On Tuesday 19th July the Residents Group took part in a special beach clean in support of Wyre Council’s Pride in Cleveleys. Instead of our usual beach clean on Rossall Beach this time we cleaned the beach all the way from the Café Cove (opposite the Venue) to the boundary with Blackpool at Kingsway. Here you can see some of our members and visitors together with a group of children from Northfold Primary School.

It’s 9:30 in the morning, the weather is being very kind, and we’re all ready to get the beach clean and tidy.

As soon as the whistle blows, the volunteers are off! They can't wait to get started on this mammoth task. Litter picker in one hand and bucket and bags in the other - what a fantastic sight!

Northfold Primary School children are extremely enthusiastic and get cracking on the central part of the beach. How nice to see these very well behaved children enjoying themselves and making a wonderful contribution to the community, a real credit to their parents and staff at the school.

Now Olwen and Susan have only recently met through the residents group, they are both gathering information on the sea shells on our beach ready for our interpretation boards. So as well as cleaning the beach they are also looking out for interesting shells.

Our Chair Jane likes a really good beach clean, and can’t you just tell from the expression on her face?

A good job well done! No wonder everyone looks happy, we’ve shifted more than a dozen full bags of rubbish from the beach this morning.

Many thanks to everyone who has helped with this morning’s beach clean – a big thank you and well done!
